Denby Glass
Denby is best known for its manufacture of high quality ceramics and stoneware. They were founded more than 200 years ago after a strong vain of local clay was found in Denbyshire and have gone on to become a very well respected homeware brand. As well as offering tableware items like plates and bowls, and full dining sets, you can also buy top quality glasses and glassware.
Waterford Crystal
Waterford Crystal is named after the town of Waterford in Ireland. The company is now owned by the same people that run the Wedgwood and Royal Doulton brands, both of which are held in equally high esteem and produce some of their own exceptional glasses and glassware.
The company was founded in 1947, but there were no skilled glassworkers in the area at the time, so trained continental Europeans were brought over to do the work.
The designer brand has forged partnerships with some of the biggest names in design, including establishing a collaboration with Jasper Conran in 1999. This partnership has led to four separate lines of glassware as well as a dining collection and looks set to continue with new lines and new products to hit shelves in the future.
If you are looking for classic and timeless pieces, made from high quality glass that is designed to last, then the Waterford Crystal collections are a great place to start looking.
Villeroy & Boch Glassware
Villeroy and Boch is another company that actually specialises in the manufacture of attractive and functional ceramics but has branched out to incorporate glassware in its collection. The brand's headquarters are located in Germany and can lay claim to being one of the oldest companies of its type, in the world, having formed in the 18th Century.
Although Villeroy & Boch underwent some restructuring in the early years of the 21st Century, they continue to produce and sell some very high-quality glassware. Whether you are looking for attractive wine glasses to finish a table setting, or durable and rugged tumblers and other glasses for everyday use, Villeroy & Boch is the ideal brand for you.
Glass Vases And Bowls
Glass reflects light and can also be used to better show off its contents. While this may not be necessary for drinks, although a good-looking whiskey deserves attention, it is especially important when designing and when choosing vases and bowls. These are decorative items, rather than being primarily functional, which means that they must be attractive. They should also be strong and durable, because regular dusting, and the fact that they will be placed on a sideboard or in a display cabinet, means that they are prone to damage.
Glass is the perfect material for making cases, because it is transparent so that you can see the contents of the vase. Thick glass is also very tough and durable, which means that it shouldn't break even if you do catch it on the tap when filling with water.
Glass Giftware
Vases and bowls are often given as gifts. They are the perfect present for a person or family moving into a new house. They can make great engagement and wedding gifts, too, and the third wedding anniversary is the crystal or glass anniversary, which makes this the ideal time to give the gift of stunning glassware.
Vases and bowls aren't the only items of glassware that make great gifts. You can also buy sets of glasses or individual glasses, decanters, and more. Some of these items come packaged in attractive boxes and packaging so that they are ready to be wrapped and given to somebody special to celebrate any event.
Polycarbonate
As well as selling glass items, we also have a stock of polycarbonate glasses. These are safer and more robust than glass glasses. Polycarbonate does not shatter like glass can, so even if you are accident prone and you do drop one of your wine glasses, you won't run the risk of cuts and other injuries when you pick up the pieces.
Polycarbonate also tends to be cheaper, and with some very simple maintenance and cleaning, they will last for many years to come. Despite these benefits, polycarbonate looks a lot like glass, and it has the same reflective qualities that give glass its beautiful finish.
Champagne Flutes And Wine Glasses
Choose from a selection of champagne flutes and wine glasses. Champagne flutes are another great gift item, and although they are typically sold individually or in sets of two for couples, it is possible to find them in larger sets. Whether you're planning a party, you regularly entertain, or you simply want the convenience of having extra glasses ready for the next time you have friends and family over, you can buy a full set of flutes and wine glasses.
Spirits
Ask a whiskey connoisseur whether any glass will do and most will tell you that the type of glass you use has a big impact on the flavour of the drink. The amount of air that can circulate, and how quickly the chemicals can be released from the drink, will affect its taste, and this is especially important with drinks like whiskey, port, rum, and other spirits.
However, there is no single best choice, because different people have a different opinion of which glass gives drinks the best properties. Experiment, if you don't already know the type of glass that you prefer or ask friends and family for their own opinion.
Beer Glasses
Beer glasses can also influence the flavour of your preferred beverage. Different types of glass encourage different depth and size of head, for example, but this is only one way in which the glass contours make a difference to what you pour. Beer glasses are also a flexible option, because they can be used for drinking water and other drinks, and they tend to be tough and robust, especially when compared to the more fragile wine glasses and champagne flutes.
At EcookShop, we have a very large selection of glasses, bowls, vases, and other glassware. Browse the website and, if you place an order over £50 today, we will deliver it completely free of charge to your UK address.
