Arthur Price Cutlery

Arthur Price cutlery was first manufactured in the late 19th century. Founder Arthur Price used his extensive experience in manufacturing flatware to begin producing cutlery. The original factory had no electric power and used a small gas heater to create the silver ingots used in the manufacture of silver cutlery. Manufacturing processes, conditions and machinery have advanced considerably since then, but the same family atmosphere and dedication to quality remain.

The Arthur Price Story

A British family business

Arthur Price spent 20 years working within the flatware manufacturing industry before the First World War. While mastering manufacturing skills, he also amassed second-hand machinery for use in the production process. He eventually established a factory in Aston, Birmingham, employing 12 people including his eldest daughter. By 1911, the company was flourishing and had moved to larger premises.

Arthur Price has never been afraid to innovate. The company was the first to manufacture forks and spoons from chromium plate, which was used before stainless steel was introduced. Stainless steel and silver remain two of the most popular materials used for Arthur Price cutlery.

Choosing Arthur Price cutlery

Depending on the collection, you can choose from high-grade stainless steel, silver-plated or sterling-silver cutlery. Sterling silver has a particularly lustrous finish and represents an investment, while stainless steel provides the strength and practicality many households prefer for everyday use.

If you choose sterling-silver cutlery, keep it separate from stainless steel in the dishwasher, avoid leaving it immersed in water and do not use overly abrasive scourers or detergents.

Care and guarantees

Arthur Price ranges come with extensive manufacturer guarantees. Subject to the individual guarantee, correct care and the absence of accidental damage or misuse, damaged items may be eligible for replacement.

Rinse cutlery as soon as possible after use. When hand washing, avoid abrasive scourers and liquid bleach, and dry each item promptly. Warranty lengths vary by collection; selected premium ranges carry particularly long guarantees.

Gifts and designer collections

Following the success of its cutlery sets, Arthur Price expanded into giftware, tableware and homeware. Its metalworking experience can be seen in picture frames, champagne bottle stoppers, letter openers, ring holders and other gifts. Silver-coloured pieces are especially popular for weddings and 25th anniversaries.
