Dualit Toasters
Whatever your toasting preferences, whether you prefer to toast bread or you regularly brown teacakes, muffins, and other bread products, you can find Dualit toasters that meet these and other needs. The company has also put a lot of effort into making toasters that look attractive; after all, most of us keep the toaster out on the worktop or kitchen unit, so it is important that it looks good and matches the décor or the design of your other small appliances in the kitchen.
At ECookShop, we love the functionality and the range of designs available from Dualit toasters, and we offer a wide range of different options. Buy from our Clitheroe based Dawson's Department Store or shop online. If your order is over £50 we include free delivery to your UK address too. And, we also stock a great range of other kitchenware and dinnerware items from other manufacturers so feel free to browse our catalogue or give us a call if you can't see what you're looking for.
About Dualit
Dualit is a British based manufacturer of small appliances. The company was formed in 1945. Initially, they made electric heaters that deflected heat to two different parts of the room. In some ways, it made sense that they would move to manufacturing toasters, essentially offering a very similar dual heat source but on a much smaller scale.
The Classic toaster is the brand's most successful and iconic design, differing from other conventional toasters thanks to its armour-plated heating elements and the use of the hand built manufacturing process that gave the product their sturdy and robust design. The Dualit Classic toaster is still available today and is still known for being one of the sturdiest and strongest toasters available.
When buying any toaster, you should consider the following factors to help ensure that you get the toaster that is ideal for your situation and your kitchen:
Toaster Size
When we talk about toaster size, we typically mean the number of slices that it will toast. The most common options are 2-slice and 4-slice toasters. Four slice toasters may have four individual slots, or they may have two wider slots.
For families and larger groups of people, a 4 slice toaster means that you don't have to hang around waiting for other people to finish, and it means that you can all eat breakfast at the same time. However, if you only make toast for one or two people, there may not be a need to have a 4 slice toaster.
Power
Consumers rarely consider the wattage of a toaster. After all, if it toasts the bread then it's done its job, right? Unfortunately, this isn't necessarily true. To get toast that is crispy on the outside and isn't chewy, you need a higher wattage. A 2 slice toaster needs a minimum of 800 to 1000 Watts, while a 4 slice toaster should operate on at least 1800 Watts. You also need to consider the type of bread that you toast to ensure that you get the best results.
Controls
The simplest toaster will only have a few controls. You can determine the amount of time that the bread is toasted for and you may be given the control to pop the toast early. In some cases, this might be enough control, but it means that you won't be able to enjoy other toasted bread products quite the same. Independent toasting slots and separate toasting controls give you greater control over your toast. If you only toast a single slice, but have to have two toaster slots running, it means that one side will toast less than the other. Operating a single slot for a single piece of toast means that you can enjoy more evenly toasted bread. The ability to control a single slot also means improved energy efficiency, because you won't be needlessly running the heating elements in slots that you aren't using.
A peek and pop function means that you can temporarily pop the toast and check to see how browned it is before replacing it and allowing it to finish the determined cycle. Without this function, you have to pop the toast and then, once you've checked it, start the toasting cycle again.
A defrost function enables you to take bread and bread-based products out of the freezer and defrost them without toasting the outside of the bread.
The reheat function enables you to reheat toast if you didn't reach it as soon as it finished toasting. This can be a really useful function if you experience busy mornings trying to prepare multiple breakfasts for different people while getting the kids ready at the same time.
Dualit Toaster Models
At ECookShop we stock a range of Dualit toasters, including the Classic and the attractive Architect and Studio designs:
Classic - The Classic Dualit Toaster really is a classic, and an icon of small appliance design. There are different designs of the range, including combination toasters that have slots for toasting bread as well as slots for warming buns. The design matches that of the classic Dualit kettle, as well, and you can select from 2-slice and 4-slice models. You can even buy a model that has a warming rack that is ideal for creating toasted sandwiches.
Domus - The Domus Dualit toaster has oversized slots that make it ideal for toasting larger sliced loaves. This model also has a defrost feature and the peek and pop function and comes in a black or porcelain colour finish. Both the 2-slot and 4-slot options have high wattage, with the 2 slot offering between 1000W and 1200W and the 4 slot toaster providing 2100W to 2250W. The bagel setting allows you to toast one side and just warm the other. The removable crumb tray is easy to clean and maintain.
Architect - The Architect toaster has interchangeable colour panels so that you can change the design of your toaster when you change the décor of your kitchen, or simply because you want a different look. Matching kettles are also available from Dualit, and there are 2-slice and 4-slice toasters available.
Lite - Lite toasters are some of the cheapest Dualit toasters. They incorporate the same Perfect Toast technology as the Domus and Architect models, and as well as a 2-slot and a 4-slot model, there is also a two long slot option. Dualit Lite toasters have bagel and defrost settings and there is an optional sandwich cage, which we also stock at ECookShop
Studio - The Studio toaster is a simple but effective toasting machine. It has defrost and reheat settings, comes in 2-slot and 4-slot models, and has been crunch test approved. Matching kettles are also available, making this a great option for your kitchen, if you don't need to toast bagels or other bread products and simply want great tasting toast every time you pop the bread down.
