Product Care
Denby is world famous for its stoneware products and is fast gaining a reputation for porcelain (White, White Trace and Serve) and china (China by Denby). As you would expect, all Denby tableware is practical, durable and extremely good looking.
Stoneware
Stoneware clay is very strong. It is fully vitrified (the surface is made glassy and non-porous) which gives it strength, durability and chip resistance.
It can be safely used in:
Dishwasher - we recommend using low temperatures and liquid detergents
Oven & Microwave for cooking and reheating food
Freezer for storing food
Porcelain
Similar in strength to stoneware, porcelain has a more translucent body and is naturally a blue-grey white.
It can be safely used in:
Dishwasher - we recommend using low temperatures and liquid detergents
Oven & Microwave for cooking and reheating food
Freezer for storing food
China
China by Denby has all the elegance of china with all the long-lasting toughness of Denby. Its elegant and refined but also tough, useable and chip-resistant.
It can be safely used in:
Dishwasher - we recommend using low temperatures and liquid detergents
Microwave - for cooking and reheating food
Freezer for storing food
Oven safe to heat to a maximum of 100°C but not suitable for cooking
Care of Denby's Oyster Range
Denby's Oyster range features a mix of unique glazes, including a stunning 'satin matt' glaze on a number of items. Should this range show any marking, it should be easily removed with normal washing in soapy water. If marking persists, we recommend a useful tableware cleaning product called 'Barkeeper's Friend' (available in good housewares stores and cookshops) or any other light abrasive cleaning product. Oyster has all the normal functionality and durability of Denby stoneware.
General Care
All pottery and china can crack if exposed to sudden changes in temperature, no matter how strong it is, so please dont take items from the freezer and put them straight into the oven or microwave, or expose to direct heat sources such as the hob or grill.
Stacking
Even the hardest surfaces can be scratched: diamond scratches diamond. This can happen with all ceramic goods including your Denby. So please take care when stacking and handling your Denby as scratches can be more visible on coloured glazes.
